I turned 1 in 77. I learned to walk and talk. My earliest memory comes from this year. We had a wood burning stove in the living room and when I was about 18 months old I was walking along and started to fall. To stop my fall I grabbed the stove and there was a fire in there. I burned my little hand.
President Jimmy Carter was inaugurated on my 1st birthday. He established the Department of Energy where I later worked. New York City had a 25 hour blackout that led to mass looting.
