Grandma's House

We went out to the inlaws Saturday. It has been a long time since we have been out there and decided the kids needed to go. Usually Grandma and Papa pick them up here and take them to McDonalds or something since they live so far out. The kids enjoyed playing on the deck. They couldn't go down in the yard because the horses were out in the yard. (Timmy is pointing out the horses in this picture.) Grandma and Papa have five acres on a lake.
They also took turns riding the rocking horse.

Grandma threw out some dog food and a cardinal and his mate, and a bunch of blue jays came down to feast.
Grandma's little yappy dogs had puppies that were just over a week old. (Two litters) One had 3 very fat healthy puppies and the other had one fat healthy puppy and then a runt that might not make it. Sheila has always been very good with animals and she loved holding the little girl puppy. Timmy is learning to be good to animals and he did well holding one of the boy puppies.

Hopefully next time we go the kids can play in the yard (although the few minutes Timmy was in the yard he got in an ant bed so next time sneakers and socks will be worn since everytime we go one of the kids come back with feet covered in ant bites) and we can sit outside and enjoy the day instead of staying almost the whole time inside in the cool.

Barely passed

I got my results of my glucose test. I barely passed with a 133. A 135 is the cut off point where I would have had to take the 3 hour test. Okay, I admit. I have been eating lots of sweets. It's what I have been craving. But luckily that craving has subsided a little bit and so I am going to cut back on that. I have had two months of huge weight gains and so that has got to stop but I am back to walking and building it back up to every day. So hopefully that will curve the weight gain. I have only gained 21 pounds total but I started this pregnancy a little heavier than previous pregnancies so I only wanted to gain 25 tops.

The Magical Place...

My daughter has discovered a truly magical place. A place where she can get anything her little heart desires. Everything she owns has come from this magical place. In fact today the cars she were playing with were all cheering because they were going to this magical place. It is not Disney World nor McDonalds. The magical place is....

Wal-Mart

I can't remember...

...when I last got a full night sleep. Even before Timmy started waking us up in the middle of the night again I have been getting up several times to use the restroom being pregnant and all. And before that Sheila began waking us up in the middle of the night. I suspect that it has been at least a year if not longer.

...when my house was last clean. Don't get me wrong, I do clean it a little every day. Usually 1-2 rooms a day get cleaned but by the time I have something cleaned my kids have destroyed what I have already done. Somedays I think of hiring a maid service to come in while we are gone and do it for me. Maybe then the whole house will be clean at the same time.

...when I felt full. I use to think those Taco Bell commercials were silly, the ones that the declared that they are finally full after eating something from there. Well, now I wonder if I will ever feel full again. I can eat a full meal and still feel famished moments later. I am supposed to eat small meals more often because of my acid reflux but it is hard not to gorge myself when I feel so empty.

Glucose test

Yesterday I went in for my glucose test. It wasn't so bad. I drank the drink in about 2 minutes instead of the five they gave me. Then I got to leave for the hour instead of sitting around the office. We went to Wal-Mart and then the library. Ray's book I had put on hold had come in (but not the two I put on for me) and then the kids each picked out two books that mommy read to them last night before bed. Then back to the lab to draw my blood. I will know the result when I go to the doctor on the 22nd or if it is really concerning they will call me.

Our Independence Day celebration

Our Independence Day celebration was low key like most years. We missed the parade again. It was just too hot for me to go out so we didn't go. Next year we will try again. We just stayed home. That evening Ray's parents came over and we had hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, and watermelon. The kids really enjoyed the watermelon, especially Timmy who ate three slices.

Afterwards we went outside to light off the few fireworks we had gotten. Sheila is still very afraid of them so we don't go to the big shows in town. Our one neighbor always has some big ones that light up the sky anyway. Sheila ended up in the house for most of the display.

We got a few sparklers for the kids. Sheila, who loved them last year, was so afraid of it that she almost burned me with it trying to give it back to me. After that she ran in the house. Timmy liked holding his but Grandma had to make sure he didn't burn himself or her.

After our fireworks were all done, Grandma and Grandpa left and the kids watched the rest of the Macy Fireworks on television. Since people were lighting off fireworks all night it took us awhile to get the kids to bed and Sheila refused to sleep in her room so she slept in the hall. Ray got called in to work (he was oncall and they had a problem) so our night ended quietly.

Year Half Gone

*I can't believe 2009 is already half gone. I have been pregnant most of it.

*Sheila has been helping me fold clothes lately. Yesterday she folded a whole load of towels all by herself and here is the result. *Here are some cute pictures of my kids. They got sing-along books from one of Ray's coworkers who was getting rid of some stuff. They love them.

* I have been busy trying to get things done for the baby and fair. This month I finished a knit doll outfit (1st picture), a crochet sweater/headband set for a baby (2nd picture,) a crochet baby afghan to match the sweater set (3rd picture,) and a sewn baby boy outfit (4th picture.) I also have almost finished a girl doll knit outfit and I cut out material to make Sheila a slip and her Cinderella costume for Halloween and a doll out fit to match.*I put some books on hold at the library. My husband wants to read "1984," which I read in high school so this morning I did a search on it. It's checked out until the middle of July. I put a hold on that book and two more that are on my Goodread list that I don't have but would like to read. I just hope by the time they call I am ready to read them since I just started a new book last night.

*My hands and feet are starting to swell in the morning and the evening when my circulation is at the lowest. It's very annoying to wake up and not beable to bend your fingers too well.

*And speaking of sleeping, my husband and I have gained a new bed fellow. Our son has not been sleeping well at nights. He is waking up about every two hours. One of us use to get every time with him and sit and rock him. But we were getting very exhausted. So now Ray puts him in bed with us and then when he falls back to sleep tries to put him back in his bed. But the last two nights Ray has gotten so tired Timmy ends up sleeping with us for several hours. I have been kicked in the back and nearly pushed out of bed because he likes to roll right under us. We are going to have to find another solution. Sheila sleeps on the floor in her little pull out couch if she gets scared and comes in our room. We may try that with Timmy as well.

*I am watching PollyAnna on TV and it still makes me cry.

*Okay, now the good cry is over I can finish this post. Ray just called to let me know he is going back to Langley for a week in the middle of the month. It will be for a full week but that won't be so bad. He will get some more training on some of the equipment he isn't as familiar with.

*The other day while brushing my teeth and peering in the mirror something glimmering caught my eye. I leaned closer to the mirror to examine what it could be. I pulled it out of my hair and looked at it closely. Then I saw another one. This time I had to use the tweezers to get at it. Could it really be? Oh yes it was. I had gotten my first two gray hairs. Just another sign that I am getting older and soon before I know it I won't remember my true hair color. No other culprits have been spotted yet but I am sure there will be more to come.
