Driving across country

We started out on June 9 (Sheila got out of school on the 8th.)  The first night we drove to Hoover, AL, just outside of Birmingham.   We stayed in the Hyatt Place hotel.  It was a fairly nice hotel. (The continental breakfast was not impressive at all.) It took longer to get there because we are now pulling a trailer behind us and Ray is only going between 55-60 most of the day.  I had already booked four hotels before we decided to get the trailer and most of those were nonrefundable so we decided to go ahead and keep them.  We were so tired when we got there that we just ordered pizza to our room.  After eating we went to the pool.  We were almost there by ourself.  Kimberly didn't like the water too much so she and I sat on the steps most of the time.  Sheila played on the steps most of the time too.  She wants to take swimming lessons when we get back.  She was experimenting with going all the way in to the 31/2 feet deep side all by herself.  But she and Timmy also took turns riding on daddy's back while he was swimming.

Ray was showing them different things.  He was a few yards away from us and said, "Hey, kids, watch this."  And dove underwater and swam across the pool.  Timmy excitedly said, "I want to do that."  He was standing on about the middle step just out of arms reach of me.  He teetered on the step a few seconds and then jumped into the pool.  The water was still above his head at the shallowest but just barely.  Ray and I were both in shock but Ray acted quickly and was to him in two large leaps and had him out of the water.  Timmy started howling and I started laughing (in schock.)  But after he calmed down, back on daddy's back again and he exclaimed , "I want to go swimming again."  Good thing that didn't scare him off.

This morning we are trying to recover from a long night.  We attended a wedding here in Erlanger, KY (just outside of Cincinatti, OH.)  I would be still asleep but the hotel's alarm clock went off at 6:30 and I couldn't go back to sleep.  We spent June 10-11 at Mammoth Cave National Park, KY.  I will try to blog about that with pictures once we get to the hotel tonight.  If not it will have to wait until June 16 when we get to our final hotel or June 19 or later when we finally reach my parents.  I will also blog about the wedding at a future date as well.
